| Humble beginnings we can't forget. In 1986 Desktop Micros was started as a PC integration company in the home of Doug and Nina Sharp. We ran a small but well connected 4 line bulletin board system that tied to Fidonet interest groups and eventually reached the Internet backbone via modems. Time marched on and Internet mail and connectivity and something called the world wide web became popular. Networking was in it's infancy and companies like Artisoft's Lantastic ruled the networking scene.
Times changed and businesses adapt to compete. We were a Microsoft shop producing clones and fast outgrew being in the home. Windows was introduced as were upstart systems from IBM and other providers. We built partnerships with Ameritech Data Services and Compaq which evolved in to some of the things we do today.
More than 20 years later we purchased Pro Info Consultants through a technology partnership and we retained their staff. Some of Pro Info Consultants staff memebers have been working on IBM midrange systems since before our business was created. Remember service bureau's? Now called cloud.
That brought more changes after investigation. Midrange despite what some would have you believe has value far beyond "legacy". The most stable database platform on earth might just be DB2. IBM midrange based on Power processors and DB2 as a part of the operating system. Web ,Windows or green screen with heads down order entry are common place. All this is possible with no DB admin or internal staffing and it's long term very cost effective to run enterprises or even medium businesses on that platform.
Things have come full circle and terms like virtual and cloud we are very familiar with but these were known as time sharing and service bureaus long before the buzz words you hear now. Internet is something we have chosen to resell via large international ISP's like Sprint and Verizon Business. We offer colocation, cloud services and managed IT all based on our own best of breed selections. If you have time please check out the "Managed Services" link under services.
If you need IT and you want to have professionals do it right either to manage that entire side of your business or simply to host some of your critical services or provide backup you can call us. The lights are still on and we are here to help 25 plus years later.
